The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a not-for-profit association of trademark owners and intellectual property professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks in order to protect consumers and to promote fair and effective commerce.

Headquartered in New York City, the Association was founded in 1878 by 17 merchants and manufacturers who saw a need for an organization “to protect and promote the rights of trademark owners, to secure useful legislation and to give aid and encouragement to all efforts for the advancement and observance of trademark rights". The development and facilitation of international trade since that time, has conferred a global scope and reach to INTA.

The Association currently counts more than 7,000 organizations from 190 countries, and includes brand owners from major corporations, small- and medium-sized enterprises, law firms, charities, government agencies as well as individual professor and student members, involving some 30,000 trademark professionals, many of whom congregate annually on the occasion of INTA’s Annual Meeting.

Held annually since the foundation of the Association in 1878, in locales all over the globe over the years, this year’s 139th Annual Meeting returns to Europe in Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital city of Spain’s Catalonia region.

Stéphane Ambrosini and Abdulmalik Lawal will be attending this year’s INTA Annual Meeting on behalf of Franks & Co, with a remit to nurture reciprocal relationships with existing foreign associates, meet and foster relationships with new foreign associates, and gain new insights into foreign legal developments and practice for the benefit of our current and future clients.
