Since April 1, 2003 registered Community designs have been available from the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM). Under the European Union's Community design system, set up under Council Regulation (EC) No 6/2002, a centralised design system is available for protection of designs throughout the whole European Union. The regulation provides protection for both registered and unregistered designs within the European Community. The registration procedure is both simple and relatively inexpensive.
