The Hague agreement provides a means of gaining international protection for a design. However, as the UK is not a member of the Hague Union, in general British nationals cannot make use of this system. Therefore, British nationals may have to make individual applications to countries in which they wish to gain protection for a design.
However, where a UK company has a foreign subsidiary or parent in a qualifying country, then often protection can be obtained in the name of the parent or subsidiary.
