Richard read Chemistry at the University of Leicester which included topics in organic and inorganic synthesis, drug design, thermodynamics, physical biology and imaging modalities. These scientific underpinnings were then furthered when Richard completed his integrated MSc degree at the University of Birmingham as part of his PhD studies with the Physical Sciences of Imaging in the Biomedical Sciences (PSIBS) Doctoral Training Centre.
Richard’s PhD focussed on the development of alternative cancer therapies, but specifically, the utilisation of gold nanoparticles and folate receptor overexpression to deliver novel theranostic anticancer agents. Key focusses of the project were on drug delivery and cellular imaging.
Richard has broad experience in patent law, including; drafting, prosecution, oppositions and validity opinions for inventions across a broad range of technical fields, including chemical, biochemical and mechanical engineering related disciplines.
Richard manages a broad portfolio of clients, from large national organisations to SME's. Richard provides a bespoke service to clients, tailoring his Intellectual Property advice according to the commercial requirements and objectives of the individual client.
Richard enjoys kayaking, visiting Italy and home renovations.
