Robert Franks and Iryna Vasyliv were delighted to attend the opening event of the Buffalo Systems new Basecamp Creative Studio in the heart of Sheffield City Centre on March 07, 2026. Buffalo Systems is an iconic outer wear brand, founded in Sheffield in 1979 to provide warm wind resistant and rain resistant outer wear for active pursuits. Buffalo jackets are manufactured in Sheffield at the company’s own factory since 1979. Buffalo’s range of jackets spans from lighter hiking jackets to belay jackets, Mountain shirts, Fell jackets, Gilets, and trousers and can be worn direct to skin without any under layer. Their accessories include sleeping systems, blankets, hoods and mitts.

Buffalo Systems has recently been taken under new ownership and management by adventurers James Sleater and TV personality Ben Fogle other wise known as Fog and Sleat. Ben first started wearing Buffalo Systems jackets at age 13, and has been a brand loyal follower ever since. Ben has walked to both the North and South pole, climbed Everest and has rowed across the Atlantic, and has first hand experience of the requirements for the clothing on which his life depends. That has to be a top level endorsement of the brand.
The new Basecamp Creative Studio will serve as a design studio for developing the next chapter of the clothing range which has built up a strong following. In attendance were long standing Buffalo enthusiasts including recreational hikers, Mountain Rescue – including their the Mountain Rescue dogs, as well as Buffalos trusted suppliers.
Fog and Sleat, Sheffield City Council, Made in Sheffield, the Burgess Trust, Fowler Sandford and Buffalo’s existing suppliers and employees have all come together to make the new Creative Studio happen, and to help Buffalo on its way to its next 40 year adventure.
