The Pfizer Viagra (sildenafil citrate) US patent expires in 2020. However, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries may launch a generic version of the erectile dysfunction drug in the US on December 11, 2017.
Teva will pay Pfizer a royalty for a license to produce its Viagra generic. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries will be the first generic on the Viagra market.
Viagra is the 42nd biggest selling drug in the world.
