The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys reported that 16 candidates have passed all four JEB patent finals papers P2 practice, P3 drafting, P4 amendment and P6 infringement & validity at the most recent annual sitting.

Joint Examination Board Exam Results

Altogether more than 240 candidates sat the JEB patent finals examinations at the last sitting.

Achieving a pass in all four papers entitles the candidate to be entered on the official Register of Patent Attorneys.

The low pass rates and high standards set by the Joint Examination Board examination system reinforce the status as Registered Patent Attorney, and the coveted Chartered Patent Attorney status which is restricted  to Registered Patent Attorneys as being the elite of the UK profession and signifying that its holders are almost at the top of their game for UK national patent work (the highest level being Patent Attorney Litigator which is only awarded to a very small percentage of Registered / Chartered Patent Attorneys). Registered Patent Attorney is a qualification which many patent representatives working in CIPA affiliated firms aspire to.
