As of February 28, 2018, the Russian Federation will be part of the international registered design system under the Hague agreement.

The international registered design system enables applicants to obtain protection of industrial designs in 82 countries by filing one international application in a single language, and by paying a single set of official fees.

International registered design applications designate one or more territories as selected by the applicant. Multiple designs can be included in a single design registration, which makes the international registered design system highly cost-effective compared to the alternative of individual national design registrations at the national intellectual property office of each individual state.

UK companies and foreign companies or designers will have the opportunity to file new industrial designs in the Russian Federation without the use of Russian patent attorneys.

The Hague system simplifies the procedure for filing new industrial designs in Russian Federation and reduces the work required from the applicant.
