Today, April 26, is World Intellectual Property Day, a day which marks the contribution of innovation to our society, and the corresponding protection of that innovation through intellectual property rights.

Flags blowing in the wind

The aim of World IP Day is to raise awareness of how intellectual property i.e. patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life and to increase people’s understanding of how they can protect their IP.

The theme of World IP Day 2017 is “Improving Lives” and celebrates recent advances in innovation which has improved the quality of people’s lives. For example, renewable energy sources which can be used to power fridges in remote areas and methods to regenerate damaged human tissue.
